Vinnie: My Lad Is Now A Man
Hollywood hardman Vinnie Jones braved the rain in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, to watch his soldier son's passing-out parade yesterday.
Ex-footballer Vinnie, 43, described seeing 17-year-old Aaron in his uniform as the “proudest day of my life”.
He said: “I have done a few things in my life but this is something bigger. The decision Aaron made to join the Army made a man of him.”
Aaron – who joins the Life Guards and could guard the Queen – has no qualms about going to Iraq or Helmand. He said: “I believe we’re right to be there.” |

Trooper Ratu Babakobau. LG.
Trooper Ratu Babakobau, 29, from Fiji, was caught in the blast at 1.50pm on Friday.
Three other soldiers were injured.
They had been providing protection for a routine patrol in the Nowzad area of northern Helmand.
An Afghan national was also injured.
Trooper Babakobau is survived by his wife Camari and two sons, Ratu Seru, four, and Ratu Sakeasi Sucumailodoni Selamu, one. |
